Mt. Washington Valley Woodturners October 17, 2013

On the third Thursday of most months the Mt. Washington Valley Woodturners Club (MWVWT)  meets at Kennett High School.  A big part of the club meetings is the show and tell where club members bring recent turnings for the group to see and discuss.  The two pictures below show the table of show and tell items at our October meeting.  As you can see there is a wide variety of items.  The club is composed of very talented turners as demonstrated by the high quality work!!  Send me a note if you would like more information on the club.

Dear Ed, Your name was recently given to me by Clete Boothby. I am in possession of a canehead which is part of my wifes family heirloom history. The head has no stick and needs to have one turned. I am wondering if anyone in your organization would be willing to take on the turning of perhaps a rosewood shaft for the canehead and how much something like that would cost. The shaft would have to be 5/8 0f an inch, and a ferule provided . I could probably re finish the wooden staff .Please let me know . I have been trying for a solution for a long time. Now that I am 87 it seems time is running out. Thanks for any help you can give me. Sincerely John Lochner

Sorry for not responding earlier. For some reason I didn’t get your comment. I will forward it to the club president as I am not able to turn what you are looking for.

  2. Good morning, I see you are the closest local chapter to me in Bridgton. I moved back home to Maine last summer from CT. I belonged to Central Ct Woodturners at the Manchester Woodcraft store and taught classes for Ct Valley School of Woodworking. I’m hoping to get back into teaching again this year. I work a lot with deer antler and acrylics and spalted Maple. I will endeavor to make my way over for the next meeting.
